To keep up with the compiler evolution a decision has been made to go intel ultra core 7 2700k.
So we have to build a new PC.
Now is the time to sell all the old stuff and move on.
We will get the Allen and Heath 16 – dante mixing desk and the universal audio dante server (rack mounted). to bring the mixing level into the dolby Atmos era.
Ableton Push 3 should cover sound design / special effects / sample pack design.
Back to the intel. so were going to build an all intel pc with again intel graphics card aswell.
We will then rebuild the C++ compiler with the necessary board support package to give up the NPU/CPU/GPU correctly making these facilities to the wider software community.
After we rebuild, for example linux kernel 7 , everything on top will automatically / via the rebuilt compilations / will pass through exploiting the underlying offerings.
After this essential compilation step is completed, everything going forward, for example CAD/CAM or PCB validation will power through without the crashes and other hazards that happen when the platform you are running gets left behind the support curve. That is when contemporary support has been withdrawn from active development. We see this with the new linux kernel blending out some ancient i486 speciality source code branches, therefore leaving behind support for that particular microchip at version 6.20.
This has happened a good few times with the CUDA compiler as the new generation graphics cards become available at the cutting edge.
This isnt to take away from the qualities of previous gen platforms, for example the buy in curve for ex gen hardware is relatively cheap for validation or other hardware engineering jobs.
Still haven’t been caught up in the AI hysteria I think its all a bit daft, perhaps there hoping that the hype will be like Bitcoin and crytpo levels of hype.
However with that being said real hardware and manufacturing and engineering still needs to be solved. The real big issue is cost of manufacturing at scale become wildly over expensive and unobtainable my small and mid caps.
